About the Pacific Yacht Club
Pacific Yacht Club was established in 1957 on the beautiful waters of Hickam Harbor by Col. John Vogt and Gen. Harris Hunter. Named after the Southern Cross as seen above the Pacific Ocean, the PYC members have volunteered countless hours to develop and establish the club in its present location. Perhaps no greater influence came from Lou Foster ("Papa Lou"), both developing the harbor and promoting the sport of sailing, and for whom the southwest point of the Harbor is affectionately named. Today, the PYC hosts several races and family friendly events each year for its members and remains a strong advocate for women in sailing. Additionally, the PYC is active within the Hawai'i community, hosting and supporting several state sailing competitions each year. As a volunteer run yacht club, we are excited for sailors, both new and experienced, to join our club and experience the joy that Hickam Harbor offers.

Membership Awards for 2020
Corinthian of the Year (Brantly Baynes, 2020) - This award is given to the individual who has given unselfishly for the betterment and advancement of the PYC. Whether wing foiling, paddling, surfing or sailing, Brantly is always inspiring us to step out of our comfort zone and try something new. As Commodore of PYC this year, Brantly worked diligently to find ways for our membership to safely return to the water during the COVID-19 pandemic and always brought the racing fun.
Jo Mogle Award (Cassie Smith and Katie McKay, 2020) - Following in the footsteps of one of PYCs most prominent, pioneering female member, this award is given to the individual(s) having made notable achievement in the advancement of women's sailing. Currently, Cassie serves as our Kaiette Co-Skipper and Katie serves as our Wet Hens Skipper. Always bringing an energetic smile and laugh, these two empower women through fun and exciting sailing adventures. By making sailing approachable to new and experienced sailors, both Cassie and Katie inspire each of us to be the best version of ourselves.
Volunteer Award (Becca Horn (not pictured), 2020) - Being a volunteer led organization, the PYC members continues to give selflessly to support the advancement of sailing through our Club and the community. This year, Becca served as a Kaiette Co-Skipper, bringing the fun to Tuesday morning sailing through thoughtful preparation and encouraging words.
2021 Blessing of the Fleet
The 2021 sailing is underway!! The annual boat blessing and membership drive was held on January 31st at Hickam Harbor. While several familiar faces returned to the water, it is always exciting to see so many new facing joining our Club as well. PYC Member, Chris Hoskins, provided a history of the boat blessing traditions and then joined the PYC family for the blessing of the fleet. Following our annual tradition, every boat in the fleet graced the waters of Hickam Harbor in a fun filled sailing afternoon. Cheers to a GREAT 2021 on the water!!
